Carlos Miguel is a Managing Director at Alvarez & Marsal in the Sao Paulo office; he is the leader of the Performance Improvement practice in Brazil. Mr. Miguel has more than 20 years of professional experience and has assisted multinational and local clients in a wide range of topics and industries.

Logistics & Infrastructure, Airlines, IT, BPO, Professional Services, Agribusiness and Textiles are some of the industries where Mr. Miguel has been mostly active, leading projects in performance improvement, organization, corporate and business unit strategy. Performance improvement projects include revenue enhancement, sales force redeployment, procurement, SG&A cost optimization, direct workforce review and processes redesign.

Mr. Miguel has helped private equity (PE) funds and large corporations in a number of commercial and operational due diligence engagements; he has also served extensively in post-merger integration efforts, for medium and large size companies.

Before joining A&M,  Mr. Miguel was a Partner at Bain & Company, a major U.S. strategy consulting firm, where he worked for 17 years. At Bain, Mr. Miguel was a member of the Strategy and PI practices. Besides client work, Mr. Miguel held a number of different internal positions at Bain.

Prior to Bain, Mr. Miguel worked for almost four years at Procter & Gamble. At P&G he worked with raw and packaging materials planning, production planning and control and MRO procurement. At P&G he was responsible for a very significant reduction of raw and packaging materials and finished goods of categories under his control, while increasing customer satisfaction and order fulfillment.

Mr. Miguel had experiences at Alstom, in Paris (hired for a one year term to support the implementation of some new procedures in technical sales) and at Petroleo Ipiranga, as an intern during his last year as an engineering student.

Mr. Miguel earned a degree in mechanical engineering with a focus in the areas of materials and production processes from UNICAMP (University of Campinas, in Sao Paulo state). In addition, he earned a master’s degree in finance from USP (University of Sao Paulo).

In addition to Portuguese, Mr. Miguel is fluent in English and French.
