With more than 16 years of experience, Mr. Lappen has assisted clients with complex matters related to allegations of accounting and financial improprieties, U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and other regulatory inquiries and investigations. His expertise extends to anti-corruption and foreign corrupt practice act matters, fraud risk assessments, supply chain forensics, post-acquisition purchase price disputes, accounting firm malpractice, policies and procedures compliance reviews, and other dispute support services for private and public companies, both domestically and internationally.
Mr. Lappen has worked with clients in a variety of industry sectors, including banking, manufacturing, professional services, insurance, real estate, automotive, healthcare, pharmaceutical, and consumer goods, among others.
As a consultant on a wide variety of financial investigations and compliance issues, Mr. Lappen also has experience assisting clients in the prevention and detection of fraud. Such experience includes the implementation, enhancement, and testing of anti-corruption and anti-fraud programs and controls.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Lappen spent 12 years with Deloitte Financial Advisory Services LLP in Chicago, where he most recently served as a Senior Manager in the Forensic & Dispute Services practice.
Mr. Lappen earned a master’s degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
