Bret Jacobs is a Senior Director with Alvarez & Marsal’s North American Commercial Restructuring practice in Los Angeles. He specializes in bankruptcy reorganization and counsels clients on managing the restructuring and bankruptcy process, complex analysis, strategy development and difficult transitions.

Mr. Jacobs has over 25 years of diverse experience, including 17 years in corporate finance and operations prior to his transition to restructuring consulting. His work has spanned a variety of industries, including public accounting, food and agriculture, environmental services, manufacturing, distribution, software, and transportation and logistics.

Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Jacobs held the role of Principal at Scouler & Company, where he served as a Financial Advisor to distressed companies across the country. 

At Chiquita Brands International, Mr. Jacobs held numerous financial positions working in the United States and Latin America. His tenure included roles in the Corporate Consolidations and Financial Reporting Group and in Ocean Shipping Operations, and culminated as the Assistant Controller for two banana sourcing locations in Medellin, Colombia.

Mr. Jacobs served as Engagement Lead Financial Advisor for a $300 million fresh and frozen meat distribution company. Among his previous engagements, he was also Financial Advisor to Contessa Premium Foods, Inc., a premium frozen foods packaging and distribution company, and Qualteq, Inc., a direct mail marketer.

Mr. Jacobs earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Eastern Kentucky University. He is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive). Mr. Jacobs is fluent in English and Spanish.
