His areas of concentration are pre-acquisition planning, post-acquisition optimization and synergy realization / performance improvement.
Currently, Mr. Mulkey is assisting two separate Fortune 200 downstream energy entities with the acquisition / divesture of major retail assets. Both transactions are in the $1.5 to $2 billion range and are focused on separating business processes and information systems from a parent entity and standing up the infrastructure for the post-transaction, stand-alone enterprises.
Previously, Mr. Mulkey assisted a leading national oilfield distribution company with its enterprise integration program, acquiring 15 separate companies over the previous five years. The endeavor included project and change management over the development and implementation of the firm’s future state business model, organization structure, business processes, IT Systems (SAP) and the identification and tracking of synergy opportunities to drive significant EBDITA improvement.
Mr. Mulkey also assisted the leading provider of utility locating services in the U.S. with the acquisition and integration of a company with the number three market share in that industry. The project included the development and implementation of the company's future state business model, rationalization of its assets, products and services, critical operating business processes and the identification and tracking of synergy opportunities to drive significant EBDITA improvement.
Other engagements include: assisting a Fortune 500 midstream company with carve-out planning related to its spin off and IPO from its parent company. The results were a 100-day plan for the new, stand-alone midstream entity, along with the analysis and recommendations with regards to future IT infrastructure for the company. He also served as merger integration leader for a Fortune 200 energy company, which made two simultaneous acquisitions for more than $2 billion.
Before A&M, Mr. Mulkey served as the integration leader for three separate acquisition deals in the energy sector. One was a $6 billion transaction for a Fortune 20 energy company that acquired six refineries, a large mid-stream / logistics business and 2000+ c-stores. The second was a $300 million transaction for a Fortune 200 energy firm that included a refinery and 50 c-stores. The third was a $600 million transaction for a Fortune 200 energy company that included a 150,000 bpd refinery operation acquired from a major integrated oil company.
He has also served two privately-held acquisition oriented enterprises that sought to identify, screen and close a series of small to mid-sized acquisitions in a compressed timeframe and ultimately take their businesses public. One was in the waste management business and the other was a contract drilling enterprise.
Mr. Mulkey earned a BBA in accounting from the University of Texas at Austin and is a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas.
