His primary areas of concentration are digital transformation, cloud / subscription business models, new product introduction and portfolio rationalization with a heavy emphasis on go-to-market: Salesforce effectiveness models, channel programs, Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM), alliances and other go-to-market (GTM) fundamentals, using agile and other lean models.
With more than 25 years of both industry and consulting experience, Mr. Butler has led significant transformational initiatives across high tech in hardware, software and services organizations with a focus on enterprise technology and software-enabled businesses.
Mr. Butler’s notable assignments include a variety of technology companies looking to transform strategic business units. Most recently, Mr. Butler was responsible for driving GTM strategy for cloud solutions business. He has worked with clients across various industry sectors and segments: including media, telecom, real estate, finance, and the public sector, in addition to his core work in hardware, software & technology solutions and services.
Mr. Butler started his career at Accenture in its Communications, Media and Technology practice in the Silicon Valley. He also spent many years cycling through both start-up and large technology companies, including Hewlett-Packard and its HP Software business unit (BU), where he most recently served as a VP and General Manager, which included leading BU-specific separation efforts during Hewlett-Packard’s split into two Fortune 50 companies.
Mr. Butler earned an MBA from the David Eccles School of Business at the University of Utah and holds a bachelor’s degree in architecture from University of Utah. He is a certified alliance manager, Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals, a frequent start-up advisor and angel. He also has previously served on the boards of several charitable organizations.
