He is a risk and control executive with extensive experience in advising large national and international banks with operations in retail and wholesale. His primary areas of concentration are modeling and controlling risks, leadership and training of high performance teams, development and implementation of market, operational, reputational and socio-environmental risk management processes.
Prior to joining A & M, Mr. Faleiros served as Executive Director & Chief Risk Officer of Deutsche Bank in Brazil, responsible for the areas of market, credit, operational, and reputational risk. He was responsible for the definition & implementation of internal & regulatory policies, led the Risk & Capital, and the Reputation & New Products Approval committees, and was a member of the Executive and Operational Committee
Additionally, Mr. Faleiros was the superintendent at Itaú-Unibanco, where he was responsible for market & counterparty risk modeling teams, modeling of financial instruments & complex derivatives, specification & approval of models for IT, preparing the institution for accreditation in Basel 3 - internal models, external units & head office risk control, and represented the institution in risk forums in FEBRABAN and in the Central Bank.
Prior to merging with Itaú, he acted as superintendent of market risks at Unibanco, with a broad spectrum in the definition & implementation of policies, capital allocation, development of derivatives & risk models, product approvals, market risk controls & counterparty, implementation of Basel II, and representative in the risk forums of FEBRABAN and Central Bank.
Mr. Faleiros began his career as a trainee at JP Morgan in areas of risk control and P & L, operational risk, middle-office, and systems homologation. He later joined the Bank of America, where he assumed the position of head of the Middle Office Brazil and later as the head of market risk for Latin America.
Mr. Faleiros earned a degree in aeronautical engineering from Instituto Tecnológico de Aeronáutica (ITA), with international certifications in risk by CQF and PRMIA. A Brasilian national, he is fluent in Portuguese and English.
