He brings more than 20 years of experience in technology roles, including over 200 M&A transactions, and has worked on technology due diligence, integrations, carve-outs and cost reduction projects.
Mr. Barnes brings significant experience of IT strategy in the context of mergers and acquisitions. His strength is his ability to combine business analysis and a strong technical background in order to shape and understand IT solutions. He has a track record of success in helping companies gain a competitive advantage through the deployment of strategically-aligned IT systems. Mr. Barnes has also written a book about technology value, titled “A New Framework for IT Investment Decisions”, published in 2010 by Harriman House.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Barnes was a Director at PwC, in the Delivering Deal Value (DDV) practice in London. Before that, he worked at BDO where he was involved in the IT development, growing SME businesses, with a particular focus on the online gaming sector. His background is in hands-on technology, with previous roles in development and systems administration.
Mr. Barnes’s experience within transactions includes technology due diligence, carve-outs and integration, 100-day plans, assessment of synergies, and technology-enabled cost reduction. He has worked across multiple sectors including business services, industrial products, consumer goods, retail, TMT, energy, utilities and infrastructure.
Mr. Barnes earned a BSc and MSc from Imperial College and an MBA from Warwick Business School.
