He specializes in advising clients in arbitration, litigation and out-of-court settlement with a focus on post-merger disputes, intellectual property disputes and commercial disputes.
Mr. Demuth has more than 15 years of experience in valuation services, business modeling, transaction services, restructuring and auditing, and has worked with clients in a wide range of sectors including: renewable energy, biotechnology, IT, retail, media, private equity, government, manufacturing, telecom, chemicals and waste recycling.
He has undertaken assignments involving international companies listed on German and international stock exchanges and has worked on engagements throughout Europe. He has extensive expertise in valuations in accordance with standards issued by the German Institute of Public Auditors (Institut der Wirtschaftsprüfer). In these valuations, he acted either as independent appraiser or as advisor.
Mr. Demuth has deep expertise in accounting related valuations, particularly. in purchase price allocation and impairment testing in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (U.S.-GAAP) and German Commercial Code (HGB). He also conducted valuations for the out-of-court settlement of breaches in contracts, notably. in acquisition-related contracts (e.g., share purchase and licensing agreements).
Before joining demuthA&M, he was a partner with Ernst & Young, co-leading their valuation and business modeling group. He was also part of Ernst & Young’s global product development group for valuation and business modeling and the emeia trainer team.
Mr. Demuth earned a degree (with distinction) in business administration and economics. A German national, he is fluent in German and in English.
He is a member of the German Chamber of Certified Public Accountants (Wirtschaftsprüferkammer), the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the AICPA Forensic and Valuation Services, the German Institute for Arbitration and the Vienna International Arbitration Center. He is also a (U.S.) Certified Public Accountant (CPA) who received the Illinois CPA Society Excel Award.
